For me, this ring is a symbol of happiness. Ever since I can remember my self I have always had a connection to the ocean, something about the mystery and the power of the unknown fascinated me.
Wherever I have travelled, I've always wanted to be close to the beach and to explore the beautiful coasts. One day on a surf trip to Byron Bay, Australia I remember it was a gorgeous sunny day with small waves but crystal clear water. While I was sitting on my board waiting for a wave I saw it, a big splash of water and an amazing sound, a humpback whale! I can't explain the feeling, it felt like my heart skipped a beat. I was so happy and felt so incredibly lucky and see this amazing creature, this beautiful magical animal.
I have had a vision of making this ring for a long time, but it has not always been clear how I needed to make it. It is that time of year again in Australia when thousands of humpback whales are migrating North to enjoy the warmer waters and to give birth. You can stand on the shoreline the whole way up the East coast of Australia and soon enough, you will see them jumping into the air and splashing their tales.
These magical creatures inspired me to make this ring, which is handmade to order from Australian recycled silver sterling or plated in gold.
